Director Desiree Elder has been teaching non-competitive hula classes via local Parks and Recreation Departments in the Bay Area for over 25 years. If desired, advanced students from these classes become
Island Spice performing students.
The goal of our classes is to teach Polynesian Dance while instilling an appreciation for Hula tradition, culture and language. "Not only do we develop our mind/memory, coordination and flexibility, but we learn to love and respect a culture that may not be our own."
